Donations
One of the many benefits of a local charitable thrift store is that it helps to recycle and reuse clothes and other household items lessening our impact on the environment. While we try to recycle as much as possible, some items are just not suitable for a thrift store operation. The cost of handling, storing and removing items that are not sell-able actually has a negative impact on our charitable donations. So here is some information that will help you decide if an item is a "good donation".
What to donate: Clothes, shoes, belts, hats, jewelry, purses, handbags, pocket books, books, records, audio tapes, video tapes, DVDs, video games, Audio equipment, electronics, board games, sporting goods, pictures, paintings, wall hangings, pottery, dishes, vases, pots, pans, silverware, small appliances, decorative items, furniture, tools, blankets, sheets, curtains, pillow cases, place mats, linens….
What not to donate: Mattresses, box springs, CRT computer monitors, console TVs, building materials, large appliances, flammable liquids, items that have been recalled or deemed hazardous by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (http://www.cpsc.gov).
Good Condition: The condition of donations is critical in determining if a donation is "good". A great rule of thumb is “if you would be proud to give it to a friend or relative, it’s probably a good donation”. Donations are “good” if they have been gently used, in complete working condition, not broken, cracked, torn, stained, or worn out. Before donating, items should be cleaned as best as possible. Clothes should be washed and free from strong odors such as perfume, smoke, moth balls, or mustiness.
How to Donate: We accept casual donations (two or three bags/boxes) from 9am-3pm Tue - Sat and from 10am-2pm on Sundays. We are closed on Mondays. If you have more two or three bags/boxes, please call one of our stores to arrange a donation time.
